Effects
There are a variety of effects in Path of Achra that units can apply to each other via powers, items and other abilities to assist in the pilgrimage, or stop the pilgrim in their tracks. Effects come in the form of stacks, which apply to units on various events. The maximum number of stacks you can have of any effect is 1,000,000.
Removing Effects
Once an effect is applied to a unit, it stays until removed. Effects can be removed with certain abilities, by enemies or sometimes they can remove themselves. Harmful effects also have a chance to be removed by Willpower Recovery. On game turn, the number of stacks you have of each effect reduces by 1 (before any event that may trigger on game turn for that effect). When killing the last enemy in an area, all stacks of Entangle and Bleed are removed, and all stacks of all effects are removed on leaving or entering a new area.
What Effects Do
Most effects have two components: a passive and 'per stack'. The passive part of the effect applies to the unit as long as it has at least 1 stack of that effect, but only once regardless of how many stacks the unit may have. The per stack part applies to the unit multiple times equal to the number of stacks on the unit.

Transformations
Transformations are a unique type of effect that polymorphs the player into another form. They can only be applied by specific sources but otherwise function almost identically to other effects. The one exception to this is that you can only have 1 type of transformation stack at a time. If you have stacks of any transformation and a different transformation would apply to you, the stacks of the old transformation are removed and the new transformation gains a number of bonus stacks equal to the stacks of the old transformation.
